About

I am a recently graduated Ph.D in Chelsea Specht’s lab at Cornell University. I consider myself evolutionary botanist interested in the processes that give rise to diverse patterns of morphology. My dissertation is focused on the evolution of inflorescences – branches of flowers, in the monocots, with an emphsize on a particular type of inflorescences known as an umbel. To learn more about this Umbel-ivable phenotypes, check out my research page.

I am coadvised by Ben Blackman and Yun Song at U.C., Berkeley as both a NSF Post-doctoral Fellow and U.C. Presidential Post-doctoral Fellow. I plan to investigate the microevolutionary processes that lead to differences in flowering architecture in Mimulus (Erythranthe?)
